BSA Bearings

Welcome to BSA Bearings

Suppliers of high quality replacement bearings for Classic BSA Motorcycles.

The original BSA company was created in 1861 by a group of gunsmiths who belonged to the Birmingham Small Arms Trade Association. (BSA) The company originally made firearms for the Crimean war and then as trade declined, it started to produce bicycles and then progressed onto motorcycles.

During World War I, the company returned to arms manufacture and greatly expanded its operations. BSA produced rifles, Lewis guns, shells, motorcycles and other vehicles for the war effort.

During the Second World War the BSA factories were hit frequently with bomb attacks by German forces making production difficult. But BSA kept producing huge amounts of bikes and guns. After the Second World War BSA was the largest manufacturer of motorcycles worldwide.

The end of the 1950s saw the introduction of the A7 (500cc) and later the A10 (650cc). Many different types of A models were produced which were very basic looking, but their reliability and price was a major reason for them staying popular. The A models became a trademark design of BSA. Eventually due to great financial losses in the company BSA was bought by the Norton Villiers Triumph company. Sadly, the last bikes left the factory in 1973.
